President Donald Trump praised the "beautiful tribute" to the life of former President George H.W. Bush, who was laid to rest Thursday.
Addressing a group at a Hanukkah reception at the White House on Thursday, Trump began his brief speech by recognizing Bush.
"The memorial was a beautiful tribute to President Bush's extraordinary life and a noble legacy to public service," Trump said in the East Room.
"We will always remember this great statesman. He really was very special."
Bush died one week ago. His body was flown from Texas to Washington, D.C. on Monday, where his remains laid in state at the U.S. Capitol until Wednesday. After returning to Houston on Wednesday night, Bush was buried Thursday evening at a private ceremony with the Bush family.
Trump and his wife Melania visited Bush's casket at the Capitol Monday night and attended Wednesday's state funeral at Washington National Cathedral.
