Rasmussen: 81 Percent Confident in Secret Service Protection

Friday, 20 April 2012 11:35 AM EDT

Voters remain confident in the Secret Service's protection of President Barack Obama and his family despite the recent scandal involving several agents and prostitutes they hired while on duty in Colombia.

According to a Rasmussen poll just released, 81 percent of Americans say they have full confidence the Secret Service can protect the president and his family.

They have mixed feelings at this point whether the agents involved in the incident should be criminally prosecuted.

The national telephone survey finds that 31 percent of Likely U.S. Voters believe the Secret Service agents involved in the prostitute incident should face criminal charges, but slightly more (38 percent) disagree. A sizable number (30 percent) aren’t sure at this point.

The survey of 1,000 Likely U.S. Voters was conducted on April 18 to 19, 2012, by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
