President Donald Trump Wednesday railed against Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. for her call to end aid to Israel while slamming her and her fellow freshmen Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley for their "hatred" of the country and of Jews.
"Rep Tlaib wants to cut off aid to Israel," he tweeted. "This is the new face the of Democrat Party? Read the AOC PLUS 3 statements on their hatred of Jews and Israel. Check out Rep. Omar (the great people of Minnesota won’t stand for this)."
The slam comes after Trump on Tuesday said during an Oval Office meeting that Jews who vote for Democrats are either disloyal or ignorant after Tlaib and Omar were blocked from entering Israel because of their support of a boycott of the country due to its treatment of Palestinians.
"Any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty,” Trump said.
Tlaib, meanwhile, said on Tuesday such attacks on her distract from more important issues such as the impending layoffs at U.S. Steel and said he should focus on the layoffs "rather than his hate agenda. Workers in my district see right through his pathetic attempts to distract from his failure to deliver on campaign promises for anyone but the 1%."
