Sen. Rand Paul is reportedly teaching a class on "dystopian visions" at George Washington University next fall — fulfilling a wish-list ambition he's had for years.
The Kentucky Republican approached the school about the course, according to the school newspaper, GW Hatchet.
"We agreed that his unique voice as a sitting senator would provide an engaging backdrop," college dean Ben Vinson told the Hatchet.
In a statement from the university, Paul said he was "thrilled to have an opportunity to join the faculty and students at the George Washington University for the upcoming fall semester," the Hatchet reported.
In a 2013 interview with Vice, Paul said he "would like" to teach a class on dystopian novels "someday."
"I think dystopian novels are a discussion of politics, and sort of what happens if you let a government accumulate too much power," Paul told Vice.
Vinson said Paul's course isn't connected to a department or program, and will be offered as an elective. Registration is closed, the newspaper reported.
