Q-Poll: Ohio Voters Oppose Abortion Ban, Favor Gun Background Checks

Fifty-two percent of Ohio voters oppose banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, while 39% favor it, a new Quinnipiac University poll reveals.

The poll also revealed 90% of Ohio voters support background checks for all gun buyers, while 8% oppose the checks.

Here are how the Ohio poll results, released Friday, break down:

  • 53% of voters who attend religious services weekly support a fetal heartbeat abortion ban, while 39% oppose it.
  • 56% who attend religious services less than once a week oppose a ban, while 36% support it.
  • 61% agree with the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, while 32% disagree with it.
  • 22% say abortion should be legal in all cases; 33% say it is should be legal in most cases. Twenty-seven percent say it should be illegal in most cases and 10% say it should be illegal in all cases.
  • 48% support stricter gun laws, while 46% oppose them.
  • 54% of women support stricter gun laws, while 38% oppose them.
  • 54% of men oppose stricter gun laws, while 40% support them.

The poll, conducted July 17-22, surveyed 1,431 Ohio voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
