LIGNET: PRISM Program Is Necessary, Says Former CIA Officer

Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:06 PM EDT

Fred Rustmann, a former member of the CIA's elite Clandestine Service, says the PRISM program, exposed by leaker Edward Snowden, is "necessary" and "good" in that it allows the government to identify connections between potential terrorists and others who may be involved in planning attacks on the United States. “In my view, it’s a necessary thing; it’s good that we have that capability. And it’s a necessary thing for the protection of the homeland,” Rustmann told LIGNET in an exclusive interview this week.
