Fox Poll: Record Low Percentage of Voters Support Obamacare

By    |   Thursday, 23 January 2014 08:01 PM EST

A record high number of voters now oppose Obamacare, while a record low number supports it, according to the latest Fox News poll.

In addition, a majority of voters believe the Affordable Healthcare Act will increase their healthcare costs, while few think it will improve their quality of care, according to phone survey of 1,010 registered voters nationwide between Jan. 19 to 21.

Fifty-nine percent of voters oppose the healthcare law, up from 55 percent who opposed it six months ago in June, due to more independents and Democrats joining in opposition to Obamacare.

A new low of 36 percent of voters are in favor of the new healthcare law, down from 40 percent in June.

Nearly a third of Democrats, 30 percent, oppose the law, compared to 22 percent in June. Independents swelled in opposition from 53 percent to 64 percent.

Sixty-four percent of Democrats, 29 percent of independents, and 11 percent of Republicans like the law.

A majority, 63 percent, say the healthcare law will increase their taxes.

Sixty-two percent say it will increase insurance costs, and 56 percent say the federal deficit will shoot up.

Just one voter in five, or 19 percent, say Obamacare will increase the quality of their healthcare. However, more than twice as many, 39 percent, expect the quality to get worse. Another 37 percent think it will stay the same.

By a 44-36 percent margin, voters say the quality of healthcare for all Americans will decrease rather than increase as a result of the new law.

Voters also disapprove of the job President Obama is doing about healthcare by a wide 59 to 38 percent margin.

His highest rating on healthcare was a 48 percent approval rating in September 2012, while his lowest was 36 percent in November 2013.

The new poll finds 60 percent believe the website is secure enough to keep information confidential. Thirty-seven percent are somewhat confident, including 9 percent who are "very" confident.
