Phone Hacking Scandal Pulls in Piers Morgan

The phone hacking scandal that forced the closure of Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World is drawing in television celebrity Piers Morgan. The former editor of the paper known in the United States as a judge on “America’s Got Talent” allegedly condoned similar tactics while editor of News of the World rival the Daily Mirror, New York magazine reported.

Piers Morgan, phone hacking, murdochThe host of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” wrote in his book, “The Insider,” “Apparently if you don't change the standard security code that every phone comes with, then anyone can call your number and, if you don't answer, tap in the standard four digit code to hear all your messages. I'll change mine just in case, but it makes me wonder how many public figures and celebrities are aware of this little trick."

British political blogger Guido Fawkes reports that, when Morgan was with the Daily Mirror, one of his reporters got access to voice mails belonging to TV personality Ulrika Jonsson and revealed that she was having an affair with then-England soccer manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, according to New York.
