Obamacare Website to Go Offline Daily

By    |   Monday, 04 November 2013 06:10 PM EST

You won't be able to burn the midnight oil enrolling online for health insurance on the federal website HealthCare.gov.

A message on the Obamacare website on Monday said the application function will be offline between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. so technicians can make repairs.

"The Health Insurance Marketplace online application isn't available from approximately 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. EST daily while we make improvements," the website noted.

"Additional down times may be possible as we work to make things better. The rest of the site and the Marketplace call center remain available during these hours."

The Obama administration launched a 24-hour tech-surge repair job earlier this month after the highly criticized Oct. 1 rollout revealed users were being kicked off the website, The Washington Times reports

President Barack Obama has brought on board chief repairman Jeffrey Zients, a management expert, to oversee the massive overhaul and ensure that the website will run smoothly by the end of the month.

The Obamacare website is designed to connect residents of 36 states that don't have state health insurance exchanges with the federal government's healthcare insurance options.

Only six users were able to successfully enroll on the first day, federal documents show.
