After public outcry, the White House on Tuesday will announce a much shorter version of the application to join a health exchange.
Time’s Joe Klein was one of those who complained, and he writes about the changes on
Time’s website.
The form for individuals has been reduced drom 21 to three pages. Families will have to fill out a seven-page application, but Klein says that is still better than the 17 pages of an average private insurance application.
“We received a lot of [negative] feedback from insurers and individuals like you when we published the first application forms and we’re trying to be responsive to those concerns,” an administration official told Klein.
While the political columnist said he was happy to report the news, many of his concerns with the health care law remain. Among them is the fact that small businesses will end up not having more than one plan to choose from when the law takes effect in October.
