Obama to Indoctrinate Our Children; No You Can't

Friday, 04 September 2009 02:24 PM EDT

I’ve seen some pretty sneaky things in my life. I’ve dealt with Wall Street and Washington D.C. for a living, so it goes with the territory. But this one sinks us to a new low.

When I heard that our President Barack Obama planned a speech to be played in each and every school throughout the country, I thought nothing of it. He’s probably telling the kids to stay in school, study hard, and get good grades.

Nothing harmful in that. Every student should try to do those things regardless of political leanings.

Silly me. I forgot that this was a president and an administration that is on the largest power grab ever seen in the United States. Obama and his administration have taken over the car industry, the banking industry, the auto industry, and soon they will take over the healthcare industry. He has spent trillions of dollars in deficit spending to bankrupt our country and future generations. So why not get to the children before they find out.

Here’s what Obama wanted to do to our children.

For our children in grades Pre-K-6, the students must “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.”

Wait a minute…How does helping Obama keep kids in school? How does that help them study hard, or get good grades?

Shouldn’t these kids be focused on helping themselves in school, helping their families at home? Why should helping Obama be the priority in their lives?

Now we will definitely hear from the administration that this is all being blown out of proportion, and that Obama just wants to help the students. But let’s dig a little deeper.

These children will be writing letters about what they can do to help Obama and they must be held accountable to them. Who’s going to hold them accountable to helping Obama? The teachers? The schools? The Obama administration?

Think about that. What if these letters were required to be scanned into a central government database? What if the students were graded based on whether they helped Obama or not? Imagine if your child received a B instead of an A because he or she didn’t help out Obama enough.

In a couple of years, reelection will come up. Will students get better grades if they march the streets with Obama campaign signs? Or maybe that will just be an extra credit assignment.

The next question you might ask is, what did Obama have plan for our children in grades 7-12?

The US Department of Education suggests that teachers prepare their lesson plans by taking quotes from previous Obama speeches on education for students to contemplate and ask questions such as “Why does President Obama want to speak with us today? How will he inspire us?”

So let me get this straight, for our middle school and high school children, they will be graded based upon how Obama inspires them? So if Obama does not inspire your child, he or she may get a bad grade, maybe even a failing grade.

This is an outrage. I’m glad that parents across the nation are standing up and saying something about this. I’m glad that they are telling Obama, “No You Can’t”.

Now when his speech actually comes, I’m sure it will be very toned down and non-controversial based on how mad parents are. And the parents are mad for good reason.

To think that in America, the land of the free, that we would force our children to be accountable to Obama, or force them to be inspired by Obama, and then have their grades decided by that.

Even worse, all of this indoctrination is being done with taxpayer money.

That’s right America. The tax dollars that we all pay are going for the production of this video, the streaming of this video to every classroom in America, all of the support materials on how the children should be accountable to Obama and be inspired by Obama, every single little thing… all funded with our taxpayer money.

Do you want to pay taxes to have your children forced to be accountable to Obama?

But this is not an isolated incident. Within the last week, I just saw a new Hollywood propaganda video that was posted online called "I Pledge" - Click here to watch the video.

In this video, celebrities from Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes, Marisa Tomei, Ashlee Simpson, Courtenay Cox, P. Diddy, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore all pledge various things about how they are going to be better people and do better things, and encourage all people to follow them, the celebrities, apparently the people who have all the answers.

As outlandish as that sounds, that’s not even the problem. The problem is at the end.

At the end of the video Demi Moore in unison with all of the video’s stars say, “I pledge to be a servant to our President.”

Wait a second; the people should not be servants to the President. It is the President, an elected official by the people, who should be a servant to the people. The power is not held by the Presidency, the power derives from the people.

Do you know who has servants? A King, that’s who has servants. The last time I checked, the United States of America is a republic.

I don’t know about you, but I do not pledge allegiance to Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, or any president for that matter. I pledge allegiance to the United States of America, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

When the Founding Fathers made this great country, they setup a structure in which one man could not rule. They setup a system of checks and balances that would keep men honest, and control the amount of power that one branch of government could exert on another.

But crisis gives way to change. Whenever there is crisis people want things to change because surely anything is better than crisis. Well we had a crisis, a financial one, one that will cost us tens of trillions of dollars, so last November, the people voted for change. What that change was, we are only beginning to find out.

We hold our children in a higher regard than ourselves in this country. We understand that adults can bicker and be partisan amongst each other, but we never get the children involved. When journalists go after a politician, that’s ok; but when journalists go after the children of politicians, that crosses the line.

The same rule applies here. If Obama wants to hold town hall meetings, if he wants to speak in supermarkets and union halls, let him do that. If he wants to make adults who are responsible for their own actions pledge allegiance to him, go for it. It’s a free country. We have freedom of speech in America. I may not agree with Obama for getting people to pledge allegiance to him and to serve him, but it’s his right.

But to go after the children, there is something wrong with that on a very fundamental level. To go after young and impressionable minds and tell them that they have to be inspired by our President and accountable to the President, that just crosses the line.

Children should be inspired by their parents and should be accountable to their parents, not to Big Government and its almighty leader President Barack Obama.

Maybe that’s the change we need. Parents, be an inspiration to your children. Make your children accountable to you and more importantly to themselves. Teach your children that they should set high goals for themselves and be accountable to themselves.

My parents did that for me, and now it’s our turn to do so for our children, because children who are strong at home don’t have to go out looking for someone to follow.

Instead of encouraging our students to be servants, we should encourage them to be leaders. Leaders at home, at school, in the community, those are the things we need our children to be, not servants to Obama. We need our children to love America and realize that America is much bigger than just one man.

That’s change I can believe in. That’s the change I hope for. That’s the change that we need.
