Media mogul Rupert Murdoch believes Mitt Romney’s strong performance in the first presidential debate in Denver could be “the turning point” in the race.
“Surprise! Romney better than strongest supporters hoped for. Aced Obama. All polls narrowed last few days,” the News Corp. chief tweeted, adding, “This may be turning point.”
Murdoch has frequently used Twitter to criticize the Romney campaign. In July he tweeted, “Met Romney last week. Tough O Chicago pols will be hard to beat unless he drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful."

But after the debate he could not have been more impressed with the GOP’s candidate.
“Interesting skirmishes on education,” he said in another tweet. “Obama has done some good, but not enough. Pandering to all students with money wrong.”
In a third tweet, he continued on the education theme. “US must give heavy push to higher STEM courses, or China, etc, will own the future. Also green cards to best foreign students,” he said.
