LIBYA

A defiant Moammar Gadhafi vows a "long war" after the U.S. and European militaries blast his forces with airstrikes and over 100 cruise missiles, hitting air defenses and at least two major air bases and shaking the Libyan capital with explosions and anti-aircraft fire.

____

EGYPT

Partial results from a third of Egypt's provinces show massive turnout and a vote overwhelmingly in favor of constitutional changes that eliminate restrictions on political rights and civil liberties. Opponents fear the referendum's passage would allow the highly organized Muslim Brotherhood to dominate Egypt's dozens of new political parties in an upcoming presidential and parliamentary vote.

YEMEN:

Tens of thousands of people join a funeral procession for protesters killed by government gunmen and the Yemeni president's own tribe calls on him to step down, robbing the embattled U.S.-backed leader of vital support.

___

SYRIA:

Thousands of Syrians rally for a third consecutive day in a tense southern city where security forces killed at least five protesters, signaling that unrest in yet another Arab country is taking root, a witness and activists say.

___

IRAN
