Israel Complains About New US Travel Advisory

Monday, 09 August 2010 01:01 PM EDT

Israel is protesting what it says is a biased U.S. warning for American travelers to locate bomb shelters when visiting the Israeli resort of Eilat and not neighboring Jordan.

The travel advisory was issued after rockets hit Israel's Eilat and Aqaba in Jordan, where one person was killed last week.

Officials from both countries blamed militants in the Egyptian Sinai desert.

The Israeli Tourism Ministry charged in Monday's statement that the advisory "gives a prize to terror."

The statement said Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov requested a meeting with U.S. Ambassador James Cunningham. The embassy said he is out of the country.
