Stand Up America, a progressive group, is spending over $100,000 to pressure Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell , R-Ky., and other Republican senators to support a bill to provide $600 million in election security funding, Roll Call is reporting.

The group already has paid for a billboard near McConnell’s office in downtown, Louisville, Kentucky. The red billboard has a photo of McConnell with the words: “Tell Mitch McConnell: Stop Blocking Election Security Funding.” The billboard will be up through Sept. 9.

The group also is targeting GOP Sens. Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Susan Collins of Maine, Martha McSally of Arizona, David Perdue of Georgia and Thom Tillis of North Carolina. The group is paying for Facebook ads urging followers to call the senators’ offices and push for election security funding.

Roll Call noted that the House had passed a bill that would require the $600 million in funding to be used to aid states replacing outdated voting machines.

It said McConnell had not allowed votes on election security proposals. McConnell said there are concerns the measures would erode state authority over elections., according to Roll Call.
