Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says that if he were president, he would use the Justice Department to take on Planned Parenthood.

"I would have a Justice Department that would begin to criminally prosecute Planned Parenthood for violating federal law and selling body parts," Huckabee said in an interview on "The Simon Conway Show" on Wednesday.

"I would also invoke the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments," the former Arkansas governor said. "This is the power we have to stop this incredible, barbaric scourge of abortion. Not just stop funding Planned Parenthood, but we need to invoke the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment."

"The Fifth Amendment guarantees due process for every person. The Fourteenth Amendment guarantees equal protection under the law for every person," he explained.

"There's one question to be asked — is the unborn child a person? Because if that's a person, then they have the rights under the Fifth and Fourteen Amendment, and they should be protected," he added.

Huckabee said that he believes those who oppose abortion should take a more aggressive approach to ending the practice.

Several Republican lawmakers are working to try to defund Planned Parenthood after the Center for Medical Progress released a series of videos allegedly showing Planned Parenthood officials trying to sell fetal body parts for a profit.
