An ad from Michele Nix, a Republican congressional candidate in North Carolina, is targeting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., the Washington Examiner is reporting.

Nix is one of more than a dozen GOP candidates running for the seat once held by the late Rep. Walter Jones, a Republican.

Jones died February 10 on his 76th birthday.

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: she has the media, she has the followers, but bless her heart, she has some terrible ideas," Nix says in the ad. "Guaranteeing government jobs for some, while killing small-town jobs for others. Her 'green deal' is a bad deal for North Carolina.

"I'll stand up to socialism. Congress needs a good, strong dose of conservative, mature common sense.”

The first primary is set for April 30. If needed, a run-off is scheduled for July 9.
