Only a "fool" would believe the testimony President Donald Trump’s ex-personal attorney Michael Cohen will give to House lawmakers, Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani told The Washington Post on Wednesday.
"It’s pathetic,” said Giuliani, who is a former mayor of New York City. “This is a lawyer who tapped his own client when he claimed he was being loyal. If you believe him you are a fool.”
He added, "Let’s see if these Democrats want to ask about his many crimes that have nothing to do with anyone but his coterie of business associates with questionable connections."
Giuliani also suggested that Cohen "may be" tied to Russian organized crime and brought up Cohen's father-in-law's previous criminal conviction.
The longtime Trump Organization employee is expected to allege in testimony to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform that the president has made racist remarks in the past and was directly involved in a scheme to pay off, during the 2016 campaign, adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Trump, according to The Hill.
Cohen also will allege that the president knew ahead of time that Trump’s long-time operative Roger Stone coordinated with WikiLeaks to dump a tranche of Democratic National Committee emails during the 2016 election.
