Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado is reportedly considering jumping into the 2020 Democratic presidential race.
Colorado Public Radio (CPR) attributed the information to three people close to him.
“What he said to me is he is seriously thinking about running,” said one individual. “He has not made up his mind yet, but he is seriously thinking about running.”
If he does end up entering the race, it could put him against his close friend, Colorado’s outgoing term-limited Gov. John Hickenlooper, who is also exploring the possibility of entering the race.
Political analyst Eric Sondermann noted the two Democrats’ “donor bases are not identical, but there is high overlap, as even in their social circles.”
In late November, CPR had asked Bennet about the possibility he might make a White House bid. He replied: “I don't have anything to say about that today."
