Rep. Maxine Waters on Wednesday said Fox News host Bill O'Reilly should go to jail after reports surfaced he paid nearly $13 million in settlements to women who alleged sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior, Mediaite reports.
"It shouldn't be in America that you can sexually harass women and then buy your way out of it because you're rich," Waters said to MSNBC's Chris Hayes when asked what her reaction was to President Donald Trump's defense of O'Reilly earlier in the day.
"If they continue to do this in the way that they have done, they need to go to jail. You know, the president's over there talking today about Susan Rice going to jail. They need to go to jail. Bill O'Reilly needs to go to jail. And so, I just want you to know that the president didn't do himself any good standing up for Bill O'Reilly."
Trump on Wednesday morning said he thought O'Reilly didn't do anything wrong, four days after The New York Times published a report that five women received payouts from Fox News or O'Reilly totaling $13 million in exchange for agreeing not to pursue lawsuits or talk about the accusations.
