Middle East expert Avi Lipkin tells Newsmax that hard-liner Benjamin Netanyahu will most likely lead the next Israeli government and he will “absolutely not” reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians.
Lipkin, an author and co-founder of Israel Today magazine, also said he is “very fearful” of U.S.-Israeli relations under President Barack Obama’s administration.
Lipkin told Newsmax’s Ashley Martella that Netanyahu’s Likud Party fared well against Tzipi Livni’s Kadima Party in the Feb. 10 elections because frustrated Israeli voters are leaning to the right.

“The results of the elections show that Israelis are really angry at the failure of all these peace talks, so called, to bring peace,” Lipkin said.
“On the contrary, every time Israel makes a concession it suffers more rocket attacks and more terrorism.
“So this is a simple reaction by the Israeli people to years and years of nonstop terrorism and nonstop plans by the Palestinians to destroy Israel.”
Martella asked if a Netanyahu government could come up with a peace agreement with the Palestinians.
“Absolutely not,” Lipkin declared.
“The problem here is simple: If you remember, the withdrawal from Gaza in 2006 uprooted 8,000 Jewish people from their homes in Gaza. Tzipi Livni said before the elections she would uproot 60,000 Jewish people from their homes. These are people in the settlements.
“Now the Palestinians will not make an agreement unless maybe 250,000 people are uprooted from their homes … So therefore there will be no peace agreement.”
Asked what he sees in Israel’s future, Lipkin responded: “Very unfortunately, what I see is a final showdown. There is no Israeli democracy that will be able to remove the settlers.
“We tried and we failed in Gaza. The Israeli people sincerely tried to show the Palestinians that we really wanted peace with them and therefore we sacrificed Gaza, which is part of the land of Israel biblically.”
A basic stumbling block to peace in the region is that “Islam as a religion says that every Jew must die,” said Lipkin, whose books include “Israel’s Bible Bloc.”
“On the day of judgment, which is coming soon, all Jews will be killed … It is the heart of Islam. There is no true believing Muslim who will deny what I am saying.
“And by the way, for your Christian listeners, Jesus Christ is a Muslim and he’s coming back as a Muslim and he’s going to slaughter the Jews on Saturday and the Christians on Sunday, until there are no more churches and no more synagogues and no more crosses and no more Jews and Christians — who by the way are one people in the eyes of Islam.
“Israel of course is on the chopping block because Israel is a small, relatively easy target for Islam.”
Martella noted that there have been reports the Obama administration is very leery about of a right-wing Israeli government, and asked: “Will it be possible for the U.S. to maintain good relations with Israel?”
Lipkin said: “Unfortunately I have to say I am very very fearful of American-Israeli relations under this present administration.”
