A CNN report on a Trump administration immigration official does not mention his time as a paid contributor at the network, which lasted up until his hiring by the administration last May.
CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski wrote on a report on Acting Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Ken Cuccinelli’s history calling undocumented immigrants “invaders,” that was published on Saturday. It includes quotes from interviews and statements made by Cuccinelli and a group he helped found: State Legislators for Legal Immigration. It does not include any quotes from any of his appearances on the network. The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi pointed out the omission on Monday.
The report notes that Cuccinelli “was a founding member of a group more than a decade ago that described undocumented immigrants as ‘foreign invaders’ responsible for ‘serious infectious diseases, drug running, gang violence, human trafficking, terrorism.’”
It goes on to quote Cuccinelli in an interview with Breitbart radio in October 2018, saying that “We've been being invaded for a long time,” and saying in another interview on conservative radio in 2015: "We're being invaded, right? One person at a time, we're being invaded. And the president isn't protecting us from invasion, he's encouraging the invasion, and he's doing it unconstitutionally."
