Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg doesn't plan on retiring until "it's time," she said in an interview given to National Public Radio while promoting her new book.

"My biographers ... would like to have my time at the court almost complete before they finish the book. We decided ... to flip the order," she said, before specifying that she has no intention on retiring anytime soon.

"I will retire when it's time," Ginsburg said. "And, when is it time? When I can't do the job full-steam."

Ginsburg is currently 83, three years older than Anthony Kennedy, the second-eldest justice. The late Antonin Scalia was 79, almost 80, when he died last February. She is often the subject of speculation about which justice's seat will be vacant next.

Republican nominee Donald Trump is keen to appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court, which endears him to many conservatives worried that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will fill Scalia's seat with a liberal.

In a 2013 speech, Ginsburg referenced late Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who believed a judge must "call it as [they] see it."

"The day a judge shirks from that responsibility, Chief Justice Rehnquist counseled, is the day he or she should resign from office. I heartily concur in the counsel," Ginsburg said, according to CNN.
