Josh Duggar, the discredited star of now-canceled "19 Kids and Counting," had two paid Ashley Madison website accounts, hacked data reveals.
The hackers, who had demanded that the website be shut down, posted 9.7 gigabytes of information on Ashley Madison customers on the Internet on Tuesday, revealing the names, user names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and credit card transactions of some 37 million users,
reported The New York Times.
Ashley Madison is a dating website geared to matching married individuals to other for adulterous affairs and marketed itself as such.
Duggar, who is married and a vocal supporter of his Christian faith and family values while opposing same-sex marriage, appeared to have managed two accounts on the site,
noted E! News. The network pointing out Duggar's alleged accounts hasn't been independently verified.
Gawker.com claimed someone using credit card accounts with the name Joshua J. Duggar, with a billing address of a Fayetteville, Arkansas home owned by his grandmother, paid nearly $1,000 for two monthly accounts on Ashley Madison from February 2013 until May 2015.
Gawker also claimed it appeared that another account connected to Duggar was started in July 2014 with his address in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The accounts overlapped by a period of a few months.
Josh Duggar is the son of former Arkansas state legislator Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, according to his
Family Leadership Summit biography. He was politically involved in Arkansas and served as executive director for the FRC Action, the legislative arm of the Family Research Council.
His appearances on reality show "19 Kids and Counting," made him a household name, but the show was canceled by TLC after a magazine charged that Josh Duggar had been accused as a teenager of inappropriately touching four of his sisters and a family babysitter,
reported Us Weekly.
"With God's grace and help, Josh, our daughters and our entire family overcame a terrible situation, found healing and a way forward,"
the family posted on their blog when the show was canceled. "… We appreciate the love, support, prayers and kindness extended to us by many of you. You have deeply touched our hearts and encouraged us, during this time."
