Former White House counsel John Dean on Monday compared President Donald Trump's presidency to a "Mafia soap opera,” following his personal attorney's remark that he has "insurance" if his client turns on him.
Dean was referring to Rudy Giuliani's recent comment on whether he is afraid Trump might throw him "under the bus."
Dean tweeted:
"So Rudy owns The Donald. Blackmailing the President of the United States on Fox News is fitting! Does America really want a POTUS owned by Rudy Giuliani. Wonder if Rudy has a guaranteed pardon if Lev or Igor turn on him in the SDNY? Trump's presidency is like a Mafia soap opera!"
"I've seen things written like he's going to throw me under the bus. When they say that, I say he isn't, but I have insurance," Giuliani told Fox News last Saturday.
"This is ridiculous," he continued. "We are very good friends. He knows what I did was in order to defend him, not to dig up dirt on [former Vice President Joe] Biden."
Giuliani later tweeted:
"TRUTH ALERT: The statement I've made several times of having an insurance policy, if thrown under bus, is sarcastic & relates to the files in my safe about the Biden Family's 4 decade monetizing of his office. If I disappear, it will appear immediately along with my RICO chart."
