A Christian robber left a Broward County, Fla. cellphone store empty-handed after talking religion with the cool-headed manager, according to a report by the Miami Herald.
Storekeeper Nayara Goncalves put her strong faith to work last week -- persuading an armed robber to put away his gun and leave her store in the name of the Lord.
Captured on a surveillance camera at the MetroPCS store at 1543 S. Cypress Rd. in Pompano Beach, the tape reveals a man wearing a dark cap and jacket and holding an umbrella.
He reaches into his coat, showing her what appears to be a gun. He apologizes: "I really hate to do this. . . . Don't be scared.''
But Goncalves calmly tells the would be robber: "I'm just going to talk to you about Jesus, my God, before you leave.''
In the end, the shamed man retreats from the store, revealing that desperation drove him to the criminal act and that the gun fired only BB pellets.
