House Republicans are looking for answers as to why the State Department cut portions of a press briefing that featured talk about Iran.

According to The Washington Post, the House Oversight and Government Reform committee — led by chairman and Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz — wants to know who deleted the 2013 footage and why.

The deleted video includes an exchange between Fox News reporter James Rosen and State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki regarding whether or not the Obama administration lied about conducting secret talks with Iran over its nuclear program.

Chaffetz sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry Thursday, reports the Post, asking for more information about the altered video. Chaffetz also wants to know if other recordings of press briefings have been edited.

Current State Department spokesman John Kirby said Thursday the footage was intentionally deleted and a policy is being implemented to prevent it from reoccurring.
"This was inappropriate, and this isn't the way we'll behave," Kirby told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program. "What I'm focused on now as the spokesman is we're going to put in a policy, a policy that will prevent this from happening again."

Rosen discovered the missing footage when he attempted to find the exchange online.
