Amazon Reveals First Look at John Krasinski in 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan'

Tuesday, 03 October 2017 05:30 PM EDT

Amazon has revealed the first look at John Krasinski as the titular up-and-coming CIA analyst in "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan."

Krasinski, who has been most recognizable to television audiences in the past as the mild-mannered Jim Halpert on NBC comedy "The Office," makes a star turn in this new drama as a man thrust into his first government agency field assignment, where he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication. In the eight-episode season based on the series of books written by acclaimed spy novelist Tom Clancy, Krasinski's Ryan will be launched into the center of dangerous dealings with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

The series also stars Wendell Pierce and Abbie Cornish. It is executive produced by Carlton Cuse, who also serves as the showrunner, Krasinski, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, and Graham Roland ("Almost Human"), who wrote the pilot based on a story he and Cuse developed.

Executive producing "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" with Bay at Platinum Dunes are Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form, as well as Skydance's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross, along with Mace Neufeld and co-executive producer Lindsey Springer.

"Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" is coming to Amazon in 2018.
