Fifty-four percent of voters favor former Vice President Joe Biden in a matchup with President Donald Trump, who is backed by 41%, according to a new poll by Investor’s Business Daily/TIPP.
The results of the poll, released on Monday, came as Trump’s job approval fell to 40% in August – a six-month low. At the start of July, Trump had a 43% approval rating, according to IBD.
Here are how the new poll results break down:
- 50% backed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in a head-to-head matchup with Trump, who was favored by 45% of voters.
- 49% supported Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., in a contest with Trump, who was backed by 45% of voters.
- 47% favored Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., over Trump, who was supported by 45% of voters.
- 30% back Biden in the Democratic primary race, followed by 17% for Warren, 15% for Sanders and 11% for Harris.
The poll, conducted July 25-Aug. 1, surveyed 902 registered voters. The margin of error is 3.3 percentage points.
