Hackers attacked a media startup after Hillary Clinton endorsed it on Twitter, according to a report in Recode.

Verrit, which describes itself as a media platform for Clinton supporters that provides verified, shareable facts, stats, and memes along with other "information you can take out to social media when you're having debates on key issues people are discussing," was created by Peter Daou.

Clinton, the former Secretary of State, tweeted an endorsement for the site Sunday night, and the website stopped working soon after.

Daou told Recode the company was the target of a "pretty significant and sophisticated" cyberattack and the website's outage was not a result of Clinton's endorsement.

Clinton is not new to cyberattacks. Her campaign manager, John Podesta, was hacked during the 2016 presidential election, and days before the Democratic National Convention WikiLeaks published nearly 20,000 emails hacked from the DNC server.
