Heads Roll Over Video of Lavish GSA Event in Las Vegas

The $800,000 General Services Administration (GSA) conference in Las Vegas that led to resignations and firings included video performances and comments about the extravagance of the event.

In one six-minute video that won a talent contest, an employee raps he’ll “never be under investigation” for the excess, The Washington Post reports.

In another clip, Deputy Commissioner David Foley jokes about a party held in the suite of Commissioner Robert Peck.

“The hotel would like to talk to you about paying for the party that was held in the commissioner’s suite last night,” Foley says.

Peck was fired this week. Other casualties include GSA Administrator Martha Johnson, who resigned, another top deputy who was fired, and four regional commissioners who have been placed on administrative leave.

The clips were released by House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., according to the Post.

“It takes a lot of work to spend $3,000 a person and at a time when unemployment was nearly 10 percent, Americans were suffering and GSA was enjoying the good times and doing so with high-ranking political employees,” Issa said.
