The man who shot former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in 2011 is suing her in for $25 million in federal court for emotional and psychological distress.
Jared Lee Loughner, 27, filed the suit Friday in U.S. District Court in Tucson,
Tucson News Now reports.
He is serving seven consecutive life sentences plus 140 years in the shootings that also killed six people and wounded 12 others.
Loughner pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from the rampage on Jan. 8, 2011, in the parking lot of a Tucson grocery store where Giffords was greeting constituents.
A federal official told Tucson News Now that the lawsuit was not in proper form and could be rejected for that reason by a federal judge.
