FBI Director James Comey says he knows the name of the masked Islamic State group (ISIS) executioner who's beheaded prisoners on videotape – and that it's his "passion" to hunt down "that savage."
"I want to see our country and our allies bring justice to him," Comey said in a portion of an interview with "60 Minutes" that aired on CBS News Friday night. "Whether that means capturing him or killing him, I don't know at this point."
Comey said the agency has been "working pretty hard, not just to identify that savage, but all of them," commending "our intelligence tools, our military tools, obviously our relationships with our partners, especially our great partners in the British services."
Comey declared his job to ensure the British-accented killer is brought to justice is "not just my job. That's my passion."
"And so I want justice, in this case and in the others, where horrific things have been done to innocent people," he said.
Comey's remarks come as Islamic State militants posted
a video showing the beheading of British hostage Alan Henning, according to SITE Intel, which monitors jihadist groups.
Henning’s wife had urged his captors to release the former taxi driver, who she said was carrying aid to people in Syria.
The beheadings of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff sent shockwaves around the world – and fueled the
airstrikes ordered by President Barack Obama against the militants in Iraq and Syria.
A transcript of the portion of the Comey interview aired Friday night was made available to Newsmax. His full interview will air on "60 Minutes" Sunday.
