An Army unit of drones is being credited with playing a crucial role in defeating the Islamic State (ISIS) caliphate in Syria.
According to Yahoo News, Gray Eagle drones within the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment have flown countless missions over Iraq and Syria and have performed admirably.
The drone unit is known as E (short for Echo) Company and falls under the regiment's Second Battalion.
"They are doing the most killing of anyone in the national mission force," a former officer who served in the regiment told Yahoo. "They're out there doing the nation's bidding in a ferocious way."
Drones have been used on both sides of the fight against ISIS, with the U.S. military employing them to conduct surgical strikes and ISIS employing armed drones to drop small explosives like hand grenades on coalition forces.
