Disney CEO Bob Iger on Monday said cyber hackers who claimed to have stolen an upcoming movie are demanding a ransom, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Igor made the comments during a company meeting with ABC employees. The hackers told Disney they wanted to be paid a huge sum via bitcoin and would release the first five minutes of the film if that did not happen, followed by 20-minute chunks until their demands were met.
Disney is working with federal investigators.
The news comes a week after a cyber hacker who calls himself the Dark Lord claimed to be behind the release of 10 episodes of Netflix's "Orange is the New Black," which was not set to hit the web until June 9. Netflix also refused to pay a ransom for the series.
