Ex-Intel Officer Harvey: Latest Hillary Email Revelation Is 'Smoking Gun'

An "explosive" new email released by the State Department that reportedly shows former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton instructing a key adviser to use an insecure means to send secure information is a "smoking gun" proving a blatant criminal violation, former senior intelligence officer Col. Derek Harvey tells Newsmax TV.

In an interview Friday with "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth, the Global Initiative on Civil Society & Conflict director said the revelation would, if proven and prosecuted, result in 10 years behind bars.

"It's explosive," Harvey said. "This is a smoking gun and it clearly shows that there's been instruction by the former secretary of state to remove classified markings of material so they can be transmitted" on insecure networks.

Harvey said it could also lead to proof of a wider conspiracy.

"It's not just the fact that she ordered this but anybody who assisted her in doing it knowingly is also at fault," he declared. "When you get more than one person coordinating an effort like this, you then open up another avenue of conspiracy."

The email was part of the latest data dump by the Department of State, which is set to release on Jan. 29 a final set of Clinton's emails from her stint as Secretary of State.

Harvey also condemned the alleged ISIS-inspired ambush of a Philadelphia police officer Thursday night, saying the attack is "converged with this problem of the hostility increasing against police through Black Lives Matter" and a growing mistrust of police by minority communities.

"These two things coming together is creating a poisonous environment in which cases like this will come to fruition," Harvey said.
