It's "amazing" how angry Democratic presidential candidates were acting during this week's debates, and it's just proof that the "crazy left is winning," former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday.
"It was amazing the level of anger that you got out of Bernie Sanders and Sen. (Elizabeth) Warren," Gingrich told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "These are really angry people and it was kind of amazing to watch them."
He added that it's the "opposite of how people normally win the presidency."
"You go back and watch Barack Obama with a big smile," said Gingrich. "You watch Ronald Reagan with a big smile. I don't remember us electing an angry president in my lifetime. Yet you have these people who were almost in a rage."
And as the candidates are leaning to the left, "you also had the fact that they are all drifting towards cloud cuckoo land," said Gingrich. "You have a number of moderate Democrats on the stage; they'll all be gone soon because they are not getting enough support to survive."
Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama is "no longer radical enough" for his own party's left-wing, said Gingrich.
"You will have (Joe) Biden defending Obama while the rest of the party attacks him," said Gingrich. "You go down a list and realize there is a real fault in the Democratic Party, and we're watching it play out in these debates."
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is "one of the most amazing, charismatic leaders in American history," Gingrich declared. "Only the hatred of the left and hatred of the elite media blocks them from seeing and recognize that."
