The Obama administration “has taken lying to a new level,” according to Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn.
During a 30-minute Google Hangout with constituents — on instant messaging and video chat — Cornyn hammered President Barack Obama and his staffers for their “willingness to mislead people” on everything from the Affordable Care Act to concealing information on the Benghazi attacks,
CNN reports.
He also accused the White House of providing “demonstrably false information” without taking accountability.
Cornyn, the Senate minority whip, has been outspoken and relentless in his criticism of the president and his underwhelming leadership. He previously accused Obama of being AWOL during the budget discussions that led to the 16-day government shutdown.
Cornyn recently tweeted to slam the administration’s deal with Iran, a six-month agreement that puts a halt to Iran pursuing a nuclear weapon in exchange for relief from economic sanctions, characterizing it as a distraction from Obamacare.
In an effort to engage his constituents and let Obama know how Americans feel about his signature healthcare legislation, Cornyn sought feedback on his Senate website. It was overwhelmingly negative.
The page is titled "Your Health Care: Can You Keep It?" Below the headline,
Cornyn highlights the president’s oft-repeated line “If like your healthcare plan, you'll be able to keep your healthcare plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what."
Cornyn says he plans to forward the feedback to the president.
