Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski suggested that President Barack Obama could be concealing his actual birthplace because he has not released his Harvard University transcripts.

During a discussion with Angela Rye, former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus on "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon," Lewandowski criticized Obama for calling Trump "unfit" and "woefully unprepared" to be president, by mentioning the "birther movement" controversy that called into question whether Obama was an American citizen.

Lewandowski, a paid CNN contributor, said Obama's transcripts were relevant to their discussion because "have those ever been released, and the question was, did he get in as a U.S. citizen or was he brought into Harvard University as a citizen who wasn't from this country?"

Rye countered by saying Trump has not yet released his tax returns.

The White House released Obama's birth certificate in 2011 that showed he was born in Hawaii, according to Politico.

Panelist Bakari Sellers said Lewandowski's suggestion about Obama's birthplace was "blatantly disrespectful."
