Corey Lewandowski parlayed his advice to then-candidate Donald Trump (“Let Trump be Trump”) into a New York Times bestselling book by the same name, and now the 44-year-old former Trump campaign manager is in demand as a commentator, lobbyist, and political operative.

Lewandowski served as Donald Trump’s campaign manager through June 2016, when he split from the campaign amid reports of internal clashes among staff. But he remained close to Trump, even working with pro-Trump super PAC America First Action until recently, when he stepped down to join Vice President Mike Pence’s Great America PAC.

The new gig will put Lewandowski back in the 2020 reelection game, according to Fox News.

Here, Newsmax spends five minutes with Lewandowski, talking Trump, “fake news,” his political ambitions, and more.

Newsmax: What are you currently working on that excites you?

Corey Lewandowski: Working with the vice president’s PAC has been great. They’re doing some great work ahead of the midterm elections.

NM: You have really gotten to know the president on a personal level. What's his biggest strength?

CL: His work ethic is absolutely unbelievable. I saw it firsthand on the campaign how tirelessly he works on behalf of the American people.

NM: And his biggest weakness?

CL: The fact that he can’t do every job in the government by himself. If he could, he’d get even more done than he already has.

NM: Did President Trump have any reaction to your book, "Let Trump Be Trump"?

CL: He congratulated my co-author David Bossie and me on the success of the book.

NM: Do you think he actually read it?

CL: He’s a bit of a busy guy, so if he hasn’t gotten around to it yet I’m sure he will.

NM: What is the worst fake news you ever saw?

CL: How dishonest the press is about the accomplishments of the president and the Trump administration and how they refuse to give the president credit where credit is due.

NM: Is there a network or news outlet, in your opinion, that is the worst purveyor of fake news?

CL: Almost all of them are equally as bad.

NM: You live in Washington and New Hampshire. Which place do you prefer and why?

CL: New Hampshire, because nobody asks for favors in New Hampshire.

NM: What do you hate most about Washington?

CL: All the dishonest people who didn’t initially support the president and never wanted to support the president who now want a job because he is in office.

NM: Do you have a favorite movie of all time?

CL: "Heat" (with Val Kilmer).

NM: And your favorite actor or actress?

CL: No one in particular.

NM: What’s your favorite way to spend your free time?

CL: Going to the dump in my pickup truck — like everyday Americans do.

NM: You've run for office twice — once for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and once for town treasurer in Windham, New Hampshire. Have you given thought to what you might run for in the future?

CL: I think I like the side of political life I’m on now, but you never know.

NM: If the president called you and said you could have any job in government, what would you choose?

CL: I’d want to be in a position where I could best help the president to carry out his agenda to Make America Great Again.
