Conway: Dems 'Dancing Around' Wall Funding Fight

By    |   Monday, 04 February 2019 02:42 PM EST

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday it doesn't matter whether a barrier at the southern border is called a wall or a fence, as President Donald Trump will call it a wall, adding that it's important that legislation is passed to fund a barricade of some kind.

"You know he'll call it a wall, but they can call it what they want to," Conway told Fox News' "Overtime Outnumbered." "They are dancing around it. Just pass the legislation."

Conway said she's seen Trump's upcoming State of the Union address, and while she wouldn't comment on specifics from the speech, she said he'll "certainly" speak about the wall, national and border security, and immigration.

"This is an address to the nation, but he's in the chamber in front of the Congress that has failed to do its job for any number of years, if not decades" on immigration, said Conway.

Conway also spoke about recent reports about conflicts between Trump and his intelligence team, insisting that he does not "distrust" them.

"He said that when he disagrees, he lets that be known," Conway said.

But when show anchor Harris Faulkner asked her if that means Trump trusts what the intelligence chiefs are saying about North Korea, Conway replied that he's listening to the team, and believes complete denuclearization can be achieved.

“What you’re saying is it’s not that he isn’t listening to them, he’s going to figure out what he believes in what they’re saying and what the facts are?” Faulkner asked her. Conway replied "correct."
