Those needing life-saving medication have been unable to get them filled at some CVS pharmacy locations, Boston 25 News reported on Wednesday.

Boston 25 News found CVS customers across the nation complaining about the problem, with one customer explaining that after CVS could not fill the prescription for her three-year-old daughter's sinus infection, it took several hours and two trips to a different pharmacy to get it filled.

The customer also said she had to pay $100 out of pocket for the antibiotic instead of her small co-pay because CVS had already billed her insurance.

CVS Non-Executive Chairman David Dorman told CNBC that the problems are due to an "internal network infrastructure issue," but that the reason why it happened is not known yet and that the company is working to solve it.

Customers nationwide have taken to social media to express their frustrations over the situation, with employees of the company also weighing in, with one worker saying she was threatened by a customer whose prescription she was unable to fill, the Statesman Journal reported.

CVS spokesman Michael DeAngelis said patients having trouble at a specific location can reach out to the company for help at 1-800-SHOP-CVS.
