Hillary Clinton has joined Twitter.
Already considered the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016, Clinton fueled speculation when she included "TBD . . . " short for "to be determined" at the end of her profile listing her accomplishments.
Going for a playful bio, Clinton described herself as "Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD..."
Though the Twitter handle
@HillaryClinton was secured months ago, according to the New York
Daily News, it was just unlocked at midday Monday. Within hours she had topped 100,000 followers.
She is following only four other Twitter users, The Clinton Foundation, The Clinton Global Initiative, her daughter, Chelsea, and husband, Bill, who just joined Twitter himself in April.
Her first tweet thanked Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe for inspiration. The pair established "Texts from Hillary" on Tumblr which features photos of her with a serious look on her face as she checks her cellphone. She uses one of the photos as her Twitter icon.
"I'll take it from here... #tweetsfromhillary," Clinton tweets. Her hashtag inspired followers and dissenters alike.
"She's going to beat the pantsuits off everybody else on Twitter," Salon tweeted.
But foes such as @hale_razor said, "#tweetsfromhillary I would've testified sooner, but I thought about Benghazi NONSTOP while wine tasting in Australia," and @richardhine said, "Dropped my Blackberry in the toilet. Thank goodness the NSA had all my data backed up #tweetsfromhillary."
Her family was more generous: "Welcome Mom!" Chelsea tweeted, while Bill asked, "Does @Twitter have a family share plan?"
