Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy has been named one of the nation's top 10 "News Titans" by Multichannel News in its recent summer edition.
Multichannel is the industry publication for cable and OTT television and each year selects the biggest "names to know" in the TV news business.
In addition to Ruddy, Multichannel's top 10 titans includes Jeff Zucker, president of CNN, Suzanne Scott, president of Fox News, and John Dickerson, host of CBS News' "Face the Nation."
"Hundreds of journalists cover the day-to-day machinations of President [Donald] Trump, but few if any have the inside access to him that Ruddy does," according to Multichannel.
"The 52-year-old CEO of the conservative-leaning Newsmax media juggernaut arguably makes as much news as he breaks via his website, newsletter, and cable news channel."
Multichannel News notes Ruddy "made headlines... speaking out against Sinclair Broadcast Group's proposed merger with Tribune Media, telling Multichannel News that Trump himself 'warned about the concentration of media power.'"
"[He] is an outsider who has insider access and, more importantly, is willing to share it," CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter said in a June 13 column.
Multichannel News said many factors went into its spotlight of "10 of the most influential figures in TV news today."
"Whether they're network brass or on-air talent, on broadcast or cable, or focused on morning or evening news, we highlight[ed] who is making the most of their perch in the news game, and leaving the largest mark on the industry," Multichannel News said.
"Who is most masterfully using newer media platforms? Who is doing the best job of tackling Trump? Who is leaving the concept of fake news far, far behind?"
Newsmax Media, founded by Ruddy in 1998, is one of the country's leading conservative news outlets and America's fast-growing news and information channel, carried in more than 35 million U.S. satellite and cable homes. Comscore reports Newsmax's online audience in "Total Reach" exceeds 40 million readers monthly.
Newsmax TV can be seen on DirecTV 349, U-Verse 1220, FiOS 615, more than two dozen cable systems as well as free OTT platforms like YouTube Livestream, Newsmax TV's app from any smartphone, NewsmaxTV.com, Roku, Chromecast, and Amazon Fire.
