New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie is blaming the media for his plummeting approval ratings since the Bridgegate scandal broke.
During an interview Monday on NJ101.5 radio's "Ask the Governor," the potential presidential contender said he was not concerned about the figures which are hovering in the 30s in some polls,
the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
"If you're going to have relentlessly negative coverage from the media, it's going to affect your poll numbers," Christie said.
Christie's approval ratings sunk to the lowest of any governor this year and his lowest to date in an April
Quinnipiac poll. Fifty-six percent of New Jersey voters said they disapproved of the job he is doing, while just 38 percent said they approved.
Christie said he intends to announce his decision about whether to run for president in May or June but denied that his
wife's recent resignation from a Wall Street job was in any way related to whether or not he plans to run, the Inquirer reported.
He did, however, point out that he had spent a considerable amount of time in Iowa.
"I've spent more days in Iowa than anybody else considering running for president," he said, according to the Inquirer.
