Report: China and Russia Building Aircraft to Detect Stealth Bombers

China and Russia appear to be building unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that could dwarf America's advantages in stealth aircraft.

Photographs surfaced earlier this year of a new High Altitude, Long Endurance (HALE) vehicle in China, The National Interest reports. Known as the "Divine Eagle," observers say the aircraft could detect and eliminate stealth enemy aircraft far from the Chinese mainland.

The report quotes Popular Science in saying that the Divine Eagle could be used against the B-2 bomber and large Navy warships.

Regarding Russia, the report notes that a similar UAV was displayed this week at the MAKS air show in Moscow.

The aircraft employs deeply-integrated electronic warfare systems that would keep it hidden from radars, according to data the report cites by Flightglobal.com.

The Flightglobal report quotes an official of the Russian electronic systems producer KRET as saying that the new UAV would detect such American aircraft as the F-35 and F-22, as well as the B-2.

Most stealth aircraft are created to evade high-frequency radar systems, the National Interest reports.
