Cain: Obamacare ‘a Big Disaster’

Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain declared on Thursday that “Obamacare is basically a big disaster.”

“It’s not doing what the president said it was going to do,” he told Fox’s Neil Cavuto. “It’s not bringing down insurance rates. The rates are going up. It’s not providing affordable health care.

“The rollout of Obamacare has been such a disaster that businesses are dropping their insurance,” Cain said. “Businesses are trying to get workers to work under 30 hours so they don’t have to pay the fine.”

Cain, 67, former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, entered the presidential race in May 2011 and was the front-runner for a time the following fall. He later suspended his campaign and now has a radio talk show based in Atlanta.

He also endorsed Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget proposal, passed on Thursday afternoon by the GOP-controlled House and later rejected by the Democratic-controlled Senate.

“It shows the Democrats’ hypocrisy,” Cain said hours before the House Budget Committee chairman’s plan was defeated in the Senate. “The hypocrisy is rooted in the fact that the Democrats believe in endless spending and endless taxation.

“They don’t want to balance the budget,” he added. “At least, the Ryan budget balances the budget at the 10th year and then from that point going forward. They don’t even want to balance the budget.”

He told Cavuto that he did not think that Ryan’s budget plan could not be reconciled with that of Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray’s of Washington state.

“I don’t think they’re going to bridge this middle divide,” Cain said.
