Barrasso: Obama Projecting 'Worldwide US Weakness'

By    |   Sunday, 06 July 2014 11:32 AM EDT

President Barack Obama is projecting weakness around the world, inviting situations like the rise of the terror group ISIS in Iraq, the crisis in Ukraine, and the unfolding immigration debacle on the U.S.-Mexican border, says Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming.

"I believe that President Obama is projecting worldwide U.S. weakness, and I think that it's hurting us all across the Middle East, but other places worldwide as well, including Russia and the Ukraine," Barrasso said on "Fox News Sunday."

America's military withdrawal from Iraq has created a vacuum which has allowed for the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, Barasso said, and it emboldens others in the world to act in a belligerent way, so that friends no longer trust America and enemies don't fear us.

"When the United States says to our friends, you're on your own, what that says to others is, come and get it," Barrasso said.
