Conservative commentator Ann Coulter's immigration speech at the University of California at Berkeley is back on.
University officials, in a statement, reversed a decision to cancel her April 27 speech, rescheduling it to May 2, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The talk will be held at an "appropriate, protectable venue," the statement said, the Times reported; the location wasn't disclosed.
"We have an unwavering commitment to providing for the safety and well-being of speakers who come to campus, our students and other members of our campus and surrounding communities," Chancellor Nicholas Dirks said in the statement, the Times reported.
"While there may, at times, be tension between these paired commitments, we cannot compromise either."
On Wednesday, the university abruptly canceled the speech over safety concerns on a campus that has seen violent clashes between right- and left-wing protesters.
Coulter attacked the cancellation, tweeting "no school accepting public funds can ban free speech."
The UC Berkeley campus is known as the home of the Free Speech Movement.
