CNN Boss' Teenage Son Held Job with Cory Booker's Internet Company

By    |   Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:04 AM EDT

The 15-year-old son of CNN President Jeff Zucker held a position on the advisory board of an Internet company started by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, receiving stock options for his work, the Daily Mail reported.

Andrew Zucker was among the advisory-board members of Waywire, a video-aggregation start-up, but resigned shortly after the news reports that he held the position.

Booker, a candidate in the Aug. 13 Democratic primary for New Jersey Senate — to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg — is the founder and chairman of Waywire. He stands to make $1 million and $5 million for his ownership stake, though he has little involvement in the company's daily operation, according to the Daily Mail.

A spokesperson for CNN indicated Booker was not behind the decision to hire the Andrew Zucker. CNN Money reported that Silicon Valley tech executive Sarah Ross, who was advising on the Waywire startup, first approached the teenager, who is apparently known for his insight into popular teen trends.

Booker's company was created in May 2012 and has the backing of Oprah Winfrey and Google's Eric Schmidt.
